ITAérea Signs Strategic Agreement with ICAO at GISS 2025 in Abu Dhabi

ITAérea Aeronautical Business School participated in the Global Implementation Support Symposium (GISS), organized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, from February 10 to 12, 2025. During the event, both institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Capacity Building and Implementation Support Cooperation, with the objective of closely collaborating on training professionals in the aviation industry.
Additionally, ITAérea formalized its participation in the ICAO Scholarship Programme, offering 10 scholarships for professionals from emerging countries, reinforcing its commitment to global talent development. This agreement also marks the beginning of ITAérea’s accreditation process as a Trainair Plus Partner, a key step to strengthening its international presence.
The agreement was signed by ITAérea’s CEO and Founder, José Ignacio Escudero, the Honorary President, Javier Gándara, and the International Development Director, Àlex Baró.
The Spanish delegation at the event included key representatives of the Spanish aviation sector:
- Benito Núñez, Secretary General of Air and Maritime Transport at MITMA.
- David Benito, Director General of Civil Aviation at MITMA.
- Enrique Maurer, Director General of ENAIRE, accompanied by Cristina García, Head of ENAIRE Campus Division.
- Elena Mayoral, Director General of Airports at Aena.
ICAO’s Secretary General, Juan Carlos Salazar, welcomed the Spanish delegation during the event to express his gratitude for Spain’s collaboration with the organization and to set future commitments.
During the event, both ENAIRE and Aena received recognition from ICAO for their outstanding training efforts, highlighting their contribution to capacity building in the global aviation sector.

This agreement strengthens ITAérea’s position as a leader in aviation training and underscores its commitment to international capacity building in the sector.
ITAérea is already an ACI-accredited training center, and with this agreement, it has also become an ICAO Training Donor.
